Student Selected Components
The Undergraduate Medicine programme has six Student Selected Component (SSC) courses and modules, ranging from Year 1 through to Year 6 of the programme. All SSC submissions contribute towards a student’s portfolio. Students are given a great deal of support but, from early in the programme, they have to arrange your own SSC projects. To get the most out of the SSC programme, students should show autonomy and take ownership of their own learning and professional development. Throughout the SSCs, students will continue to develop a wide range of professional skills, culminating with an eight-week clinical elective (SSC6), frequently arranged abroad, in Year 6 of the programme.
